Total Family

If Your Advisor Stops Paying

What happens to your family when a partner firm's subscription ends, and how to carry on independently.

Some households join Total Family through a financial advisor or wealth firm that covers the membership. While that runs, you have no billing screens at all and nothing to manage.

This page is about what happens when that arrangement ends.

What Happens to My Family When My Advisor's Subscription Ends?

Your household becomes independent and drops to the free plan. Every Premium feature locks, but nothing you have written is deleted.

Everything your family has created stays yours: your visions, Legacy Letters, milestones, and quotes. What changes is which features you can reach, because the free plan gates the same things it always did.

The free pages stay open. Quotes and My Journey remain reachable, and inside My Journey only the individual Premium tasks lock.

Can I Keep Premium by Paying Myself?

Yes. You can take over the membership.

This is the point where an advisor-invited family becomes a self-paying one. The upgrade works the same as any family upgrade: Settings, then Plans, then Get Started Now under Premium. Upgrading From Free to Premium walks through it.

There is no waiting period. When the firm's plan ends, the Premium features lock straight away, and for most families that is how they find out. Nothing warns you in advance, so if you know your advisor is winding down, it is worth deciding before it happens rather than after.

Will I Lose Anything if I Do Not Take Over?

No material is deleted.

Your family stays on the free plan with everything it has written intact. If you upgrade later, it is all still there.

What you lose is access to the Premium features until you upgrade: the vision work, unlimited Legacy Letters and milestones, and Chat with Kin.

Was I Ever Charged While My Advisor Was Paying?

No. A family billed through a firm sees no billing screens and is never charged. The firm holds the subscription.

If you have been charged and believe your advisor was paying, that is worth raising. Contact Support with the payment confirmation.

My Advisor's Firm Is Still Active but My Family Lost Premium

That is not expected. Check first whether the firm's own trial has ended, since a firm on an expired trial cannot carry its families.

If the firm is genuinely still on a paid plan, contact support and name the firm and your family.
