What you can do without paying, what is locked until you upgrade, and how to tell which plan you are on.
Every household starts on the Free plan. Nothing expires and you are never asked for a card, so you can stay on it as long as you like.
This page is about what that plan actually gives you.
How Do I Know Which Plan I Am On?
Look at the sidebar, under the logo.
A Premium household has a PREMIUM badge there. If yours has no badge, you are on the Free plan.
The dashboard is the other giveaway: a free account carries an Upgrade to Premium banner across the top.
What Can I Do Without Paying?
Three things, and they are genuinely unlimited rather than trials.
- Quotes. Capture the things your family says, tag them, and keep them on one board. No cap. See Quotes.
- Invite your family. Your spouse or life partner, your children, anyone who belongs in the household. Inviting people is free on every plan. See Create your family.
- The Family Resource Library. Total Family's own written material, open to read.

In Up Next on your dashboard, locked tasks carry a padlock. Complete Your Personal Vision and Personal Milestone Reflection are locked; Invite Your Spouse or Life Partner is not, because inviting is free.
Opening a locked feature takes you to an upgrade screen rather than an error.
On Premium the same page opens the vision itself, and a PREMIUM badge appears in the sidebar.
Why Is the Vision Work the Part Behind Premium?
It is the heart of the product rather than an add-on. The values, purpose, and roles exercises are what everything else hangs off, and the letters and milestones you write later refer back to them.
Quotes and inviting your family are deliberately free because they are how a household gets started together before anyone has decided to pay.
Will My Free Account Expire, or Turn Into a Trial?
No. Free is a plan, not a trial. There is no countdown, no card on file, and nothing switches off after a period.
If a promo code covers your first year of Premium, that is different: you are on Premium, and the card is charged when the covered period ends. See Upgrading from Free to Premium.
Do I Lose Anything I Have Written if I Stay Free?
No. Quotes, family members, and anything else you have added stay exactly where they are.
The same is true in reverse. If you upgrade later, everything you did while free is still there and the vision work simply unlocks around it.
I Was Invited by an Advisor. Which Plan Am I On?
Premium, paid for by them.
A household invited by a firm gets the full product through the firm's plan, with no billing screens of your own and nothing to pay.
If that arrangement ends, your household drops to this Free plan and keeps everything it has written. See If your advisor stops paying.
How Do I Upgrade?
Settings, then Plans, then Get Started Now under Premium. The Upgrade Now button on your dashboard banner goes to the same place.
