Completing the Initial Assessment
Answer a short set of questions so Total Family can tailor your experience.
The Initial Assessment is the first thing you do after setting up your profile. It is a short set of questions about what brought you to Total Family and how your family is doing right now, and your answers shape the guidance you see from here on.

Before You Start
You will need a Total Family account with your profile completed. See Log in and set up your family profile. The assessment takes only a few minutes, and you can move back and forth between questions before submitting.
Answer the Multiple-Choice Questions
The assessment opens with "What brought you to Total Family?" Choose any of the options that ring true. This is a Select all that apply question, so you are not limited to one.
The Assessment Progress bar at the top shows how far through you are. Select Next to continue, or Previous to revisit an earlier answer.
Rate Your Family on the Sliders
Some questions ask you to rate your family from 1 to 10. Drag each slider to the point that feels right; the value on the right updates as you move it, and the labels at each end tell you what the extremes mean.
Tip There are no right answers here, and nothing is shared outside your family. An honest middling score is far more useful than an optimistic one: the guidance you get back is only as good as what you put in.
Rate Your Readiness and Submit
The final question asks how ready you are to commit time and energy to the outcomes you picked. Once progress reaches 100%, select Submit.
What Happens Next
With the assessment submitted, Total Family uses your answers to tailor what it suggests next. On a free account you will be invited to upgrade at this point. See Upgrading to Premium for that flow.
Troubleshooting
- Want to change an answer? Select Previous to step back through the questions. Nothing is recorded until you select Submit.
- Progress bar not moving? Each question advances the bar when you select Next. If it seems stuck, check that you have answered the question on screen.
