Legacy Contact
Plan ahead and protect your family’s digital legacy.
The Legacy Contact feature allows you to decide what happens to your Total Family account after you pass away.
You can choose to memorialize your account (keeping it as a family archive) or delete it permanently.
You can also assign trusted contacts, manage permissions, and securely share access.

Access Legacy Contact
To configure your legacy settings:
- Navigate to Settings > Legacy Contact.

- Choose one of the two options:
- Keep as a Memorial – Preserve your account and assign trusted contacts.
- Delete Account – Permanently remove your account after death.

Memorialisation
If you want your account to be preserved:
- Select Keep as a Memorial.

- Assign a Legacy Contact who will have access to specific parts of your account.

Add a Family Member as Contact
- Open the dropdown and select an existing family member.

Add an External Contact
If your Legacy Contact is not part of your family group:
- Click Invite to add a contact.

- Fill out the form with:
- First Name / Last Name
- Phone Number
- Location
- Relationship

- Toggle permissions for what they can access (e.g., Milestones, Legacy Vault, Quotes).

- Provide custom instructions (optional).

✅ Save the chosen contact.
Next Steps
- An email draft is created for the Legacy Contact:

- Once the email is sent:
- If the contact accepts the invite, an Access Key will be generated and the status will change to Accepted.


Accept Invite
- The Legacy Contact will receive an email invitation.

- After clicking the link, they can create a new account or log in to an existing one.


- Once logged in, go to Settings > Legacy Contact, choose Access the Account, and provide the Access Code.


Deletion of Account
If you prefer your account to be permanently erased:
- Select Delete Account.
- Confirm your choice - a warning will explain that all data will be permanently removed.
- You can still assign a contact to handle last instructions, but they won’t retain account access.
Edit or Change Permissions
You can update what your Legacy Contact has access to at any time.
Steps:
- Go to Settings > Legacy Contact.
- Locate the assigned contact.
- Choose View Permissions and click Edit Permissions.

- Toggle features on/off (e.g., enable Milestones, disable Quotes).

- Save your changes by clicking Update at the end of the page.
Revoke Access
If you no longer want a Legacy Contact to have access:
Steps:
- Navigate to Settings > Legacy Contact.
- Select the contact you want to remove.
- Click Revoke.

- Confirm the action in the pop-up.

Notes:
- Revocation is immediate.
- You can assign a new Legacy Contact later if needed.
Access Key Sharing
Legacy Contacts require a special key to access your account after you pass away.
This key can be shared securely via QR code or email.
Steps:
- After assigning a contact, scroll to Legacy Contact Access Key.
- Click Share Access Key.

- Choose a method:
- Email – Send a secure link with instructions.

Important:
- Share the key only with trusted individuals.
- The contact will need both the Access Key and a copy of your death certificate to gain access.
